Your Representation

For more details click on one of the following headings.

General
Meriden residents are represented at many different levels. Locally by parish or town councillors and by the councillors elected across the borough to form the Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. Nationally, you are represented by myself at Westminster.

Parish / Town Councils
There are over 9,000 parish and town councils in England and they form the tier of local government closest to the people. The term "town council" is synonymous with "parish council" in that any parish council can style itself "town council" if it considers it appropriate to do so.

Councillors
Solihull borough is divided into 17 wards and the Council is composed of 51 Members with one-third elected three years in four. Councillors are democratically accountable to residents of their ward. It is a voluntary occupation but they do get expenses.

Members Of The European Parliament
In Meriden, you are represented by 7 MEPs - 3 Conservatives, 2 Labour, 1 Liberal Democrat and 1 UKIP
