MABL

According to the Home Office, the largest increase in violent crime over the last twenty years has been in cases of domestic violence. Solihull borough has not escaped this disturbing trend.

In Solihull, the Council’s social services department, together with the police and other agencies have formed a charitable domestic violence trust, MABL (Make a Better Life) Trust, of which I am a board member. The trust works alongside other groups to highlight information such as telephone help lines to offer practical help to victims of domestic violence. We have reached one of our long term aims of building a refuge for victims of domestic violence, a good example of how the crime is being tackled head-on.
