Education

Solihull Borough’s fantastic record with secondary and primary education, despite being the 4th lowest funded local authority in the country is telling of both the success of the Conservative Council and also of the unjust allocation of funding.

Solihull, as one of the forty worst funded local education authorities has, with others, formed a campaign to achieve "an equitable distribution of central Government funding for education" known as the f40 Group. They rely on support from schools, governors, staff, pupils' parents, and the MPs from all parties, whose constituents come within the boundaries of these forty LEAs. The aim is to lobby Government to change the proposed formula which means that councils like ours receive less funding per secondary school pupil less than our neighbours in Birmingham. The local council is fighting a vigorous campaign helped and supported by this cross party group of MPs and other supporters all of whom are lobbying the Government to listen to their very real concerns. All we are asking for is for fair access to limited funds and to offer the children in our area the same chances as those elsewhere in the country
